Modern Day Prophets?
Many years ago, before I submitted my life to Christ, I attended a church. I confess that church gave me the heebie jeebies. Was is me? Was I not ready? Was it the church? Was my spirit sensing demonic activity? Who knows? All I know is this, they had a visitor there. A prophet. He handed out business cards with his name and “A Prophet” as his business title.
Let’s just say I scoffed at the idea.
Granted, I wasn’t in the right place, spiritually, to discern the situation… right or wrong. I’m not sure if I’d judge the situation much better today. The idea of someone calling themselves a prophet still itches the skeptical side of my brain. Especially if they promote it with a business card.
But while so many people claim that God doesn’t speak today. I know that’s not true. He most certainly does. I don’t hear from Him much, but I have. Quite clearly. And the Bible says this:
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” - Acts 2:17
So why am I so skeptical?
Maybe because the following is also written in God’s word?
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” - Matthew 7:15
God didn’t just leave us there, saying people will prophesy, but good luck figuring out who’s telling the truth! No, He gave us some guidelines.
“But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”
You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.” - Deuteronomy 18:20-22
Why am I saying all this?
I listened to Vlad Savchuk’s podcast recently. He interviewed Brother Hyeok (you can watch the interview here). His humility and desire for a pure heart impressed me. Then Pastor Vlad talked about a prophecy Brother Hyeok gave to the US. Brother Hyeok didn’t want to get into it on the podcast, so Vlad shared a link.
Wow.
I think I heard a modern day prophecy. To us. To the US.
After listening, I understand why he didn’t want to recap the Lord’s message in a podcast. And I don’t want to recap it here. Instead, I highly suggest you listen to it for yourself.
I didn’t hear anything false in his message. Nor did I sense any ulterior motives. He truly seems to love the Lord. And he spoke with such humility. True or not, I have no reason not to listen to and heed his words. It’s all Biblical.
And if it’s true. If he spoke God’s message to the United States—my country—I have to share it with my fellow citizens.
If you’re American or not, give it a listen and let me know what you think. If you believe his prophecy is true, how do you think we should respond?
You are loved,
